Whyalla Port Expansion Electrical Equipment Rooms

Status: Completed in November 2012
Scope: Supply four (4) Electrical Equipment Rooms,
One (1) HV Room and one (1) Control Room for the Whyalla Port Expansion.
Construction Provided

In April 2012, TEC Contracting was awarded a Design and Construct contract to provide six (6) Electrical Equipment Rooms for the Whyalla Port Expansion Project, and the final Equipment Room was delivered on site at end of November 2012.
The project was completed using 13,600 labour hours with no incidents and three (3) minor first aid injuries.

Switch_roomsThe TEC Contracting Construction scope included:

  • Individual design and engineering by our ‘in house’ engineers to accommodate our client’s layout for the required Electrical Equipment in the nominated room sizes.
  • Constructing of the rooms including Structural Steelwork (Sub Floor and Wall Framing), Surface Treatment, Fire Proofing and Detection, Internal and External Cladding, Electrical Fit Out, Sub Floor Cable Ladder Systems, Installation of Air-Conditioners and Installation of Electrical Equipment (MCC’s, Distribution Boards etc.).
  • The rooms varies in sizes from 11.88m long x 5.06m wide x 4.29m high with a total weight of 14 tonnes, to 16.82m long x 5.7m wide x 4.29m high with a total weight of 30 tonnes.
  • Transportation of Equipment Rooms to their final location.
